Ptychodus mammillaris

This catalog contains very rare teeth from the largest of the Texas Ptychodus sharks, Ptychodus mammillaris - an early Hybodotid shark. These teeth were collected in the Kamp Ranch member of the Eagle Ford group, Travis County, Texas (Turonian - 94 million years ago) and the Kamp Ranch formation). All teeth are complete and well preserved.

These massive teeth have a design with strong transverse ridges across the cusp that transition to a concentric pattern at the base of the cusp. Authenticity guaranteed. Note - one margin has a natural crack which contains matrix within it and the root structure is missing. This is a rare species and a suer rare size - this specimen exceeds the maximum size recorded for Texas!
