An EXTRA LARGE, Top Quality Leptostyrax macrorhiza, an extinct Mackerel shark, tooth from Tarrant Co., Texas. An October Fossil of the Month. An excellent example of this Lower Cretaceous Paw Paw Fm. shark. These teeth have a unique design with a very high root face and broad & long side cusps. This is an anterior tooth with perfect cusps. This catalog contains excellent teeth from an extinct Mackerel shark - Leptostyrax macrorhiza. These teeth were collected from the Paw Paw Formation, Tarrant Co. All teeth are complete and well preserved.

Paw Paw Formation is early Cretaceous calcareous marl that dates to the late Albian age  (105 MYA). This formation is found in northern central Texas.
