Overview

The PERFECT, very rare Parotodus benedeni tooth. An April 2019 Fossil of the Month. Lateral tooth. The crown has extremely sharp cutting edges. Exceptional light tan & blue color and preservation. An incredible wide bourlette. The root is ~5/8" thick and shows few small hydration cracks! Note- grooves on the sides of the root lobes - a Miocene tooth trait. One of the finest LC lateral Parotodus teeth that I have seen. This incredible Parotodus was found in the Pungo River Formation (Miocene age). No repair or restoration. A very special, rare collector's tooth. Authenticity guaranteed.

LC102 BoP           Size: 2-7/16"

The Parotodus benedeni, the False Mako, is a very rare species found in the Lee Creek mine. These teeth are massive with huge root. This large predator must have crushed its prey. You never see these teeth for sale!
