Greenland Sleeper Shark - Modern

These are excellent examples of a rare modern Greenland Sleeper shark, Somniosus microcephalus. It is a member of the Somniosidae family, the sleeper sharks. The oldest living sharks known. Greenland sharks are known to live 250 – 500 years. It typically is found in the north Atlantic Ocean and Artic Ocean. It can grow quite large – up to 20 feet in length.
