Otodus chubutensis - So. Carolina
A LARGE, GEM Quality Chubutensis tooth - an upper jaw tooth from So. Carolina. An October Fossil of the Month. Otodus chubutensis or Chubutensis is the extinct ancestor of the Megalodon shark. An excellent Charcoal Gray colored crown. Highest quality enamel. The black bourlette is complete. Sharp serrations are sharp with an excellent tip serration and essentially complete. The root is black colored and complete. Note the small cusp-like bumps at the base of the cutting edge and the larger sized serrations - both are Chubutensis characteristics. No repair or restoration. Authenticity guaranteed. One of the finest SC Chubutensus teeth that I have offered.
